The trials club for the West Pennines
Darwen Trials Club is a popular, well-established and respected club providing competition and camaraderie for motorcycle trials enthusiasts in the area of the West Pennines. Currently, the club organises many trials throughout the year. In most of our trials the sections cater for all ages and abilities with the sections marked out for several levels of difficulty starting at 'Beginners' through to 'Novice/Clubman' with the hardest level for 'Experts'.
Our events are run at several venues in the Blackburn/Burnley/Bury areas over terrain that includes rocks, mud, slippery banks and stream beds.
These trials are usually held at our better venues with a decent lap and a minimum of ten sections. The sections are of moderate severity and length for the expected standard of rider. The 50/50 course is a mixture of sections - half from the Easy course and the others from the Novice course. Start time: 10:30am
Saturday afternoon series usually held at one of our smaller or easier venues. Sections are set to be easier than our regular clubs trials. All welcome - especially Beginners. Help is also available for first-timers. Start time: 2pm
A series of relaxed summer evening trials during the lighter evenings. Start time: 6pm. Usually three laps of eight or more sections. And finished in time for a pub supper!
Usually held in late September, this is Darwen's major charity of the year. In memory of Mrs Isherwood, all profits are donated to Cancer Research charities in the local area.
A regular trial with our usual classes and courses
Located in the rugged, natural trials terrain of Yorkshire and Lancashire, we cater for riders of all abilities on a wide range of bikes.
We currently organise around 20 trials every year, with competitive classes for all types of British manufactured machines, four strokes to 1965 and two stroke to 1970. Our trials feature eased clubman/rigid routes to suit all standards of rider where appropriate.
A further 'Gentle Route' was introduced for 2022 using white flags. The sections will be designed for beginners, senior, recovering riders and those looking for easier sections and a less taxing day's riding.
